The lab partner you can count on: Multitron incubator shaker

In the fast-paced world of bioprocessing, having reliable lab equipment is critical for research and process development success. The Multitron incubator shaker has been designed with these demands in mind, offering precision and efficiency that directly address the challenges scientists face in their labs. Whether you are optimizing culture conditions or scaling up processes, the Multitron shaker provides the tools you need to advance your research with confidence.

Pre-configured for rapid setup and immediate use

In research environments where time is precious and budgets are often limited, the last thing you want is to wait on lab equipment setup to get started. The Multitron incubator shaker addresses this by shipping pre-configured and ready for immediate use, minimizing downtime and allowing experiments to start without delay. Whether you require a floor-standing or triple-stacked unit, the Multitron’s customizable configurations are designed to meet a variety of lab requirements. This flexibility is especially valuable for researchers working across diverse applications, enabling easy adjustments while maintaining consistent, temperature-controlled environments. Additionally, optional top cooling units enhance versatility for temperature-sensitive processes, ensuring optimal conditions for your cultures.

Here is a great example of our customer, Jefferson Institute of Bioprocessing (JIB), who utilized the Multitron incubator shaker to optimize their HEK293 cell line for viral vector production

Fit into the smallest of laboratories without compromising on capacity

The Multitron’s triple-stack system is engineered to fit seamlessly into even the smallest labs, providing exceptional capacity without requiring additional space. Standing at 83 inches (210 cm), the system easily passes through standard doorways for quick and hassle-free installation. Weighing less than 1,000 lbs (454 kg), the Multitron is light enough to move and install without heavy equipment or major modifications to your lab. With minimal clearance needed for ventilation, you can place it in tight spaces while still maximizing lab efficiency. Despite its compact footprint, the Multitron can run up to 23,000 experiments in less than a square meter, making it the perfect solution for labs aiming to scale up without compromising space or throughput.

“The Multitron has greatly increased the production capacity of our small lab space. I’ve relied on these shakers for years and couldn’t be happier.”

- Nicole Lapuyade-BakerSenior Research Associate at CytomX Therapeutics

Ensure ergonomic efficiency for high-throughput workflows

Efficiency is crucial in high-throughput bioprocessing labs, where time-sensitive experiments and large workloads demand easy-to-use equipment. The Multitron’s ergonomic triple-stack system is designed for effortless accessibility to all chambers, minimizing physical strain for lab personnel. The compact design allows researchers to manage multiple experiments in parallel, and with the automatic tray locking and unlocking mechanisms, handling the trays becomes seamless and error-free. For labs dealing with heavy workloads, the Multitron’s trays can handle up to 55 kg, ensuring that even large-scale bioprocessing projects can be managed smoothly. The automatic tray-locking feature, which activates when the doors open, provides an additional layer of safety during tray movement, preventing mishaps and maintaining the integrity of your samples. These features streamline high-volume workflows, allowing scientists to focus on what matters most—achieving reliable, reproducible results.

“The INFORS HT Multitron incubator shaker quickly became a favorite in our laboratory for cell culture. It is a high-capacity equipment, easy to use and maintain, with precise and reliable controls.”

- Rui de Paula Vieira de Castro, Associate Scientist, Jefferson Institute of Bioprocessing (JIB)

Quiet and reliable performance for delicate cultures

Researchers working with delicate cultures, such as mammalian cells, often struggle with maintaining consistent environmental conditions. The Multitron’s single bearing eccentric drive ensures quiet operation with minimal vibration, both of which are critical to maintaining the stable growth environments required for reproducible results. The drive system’s fully enclosed base guarantees uniform temperature control, eliminating the variability that can negatively affect culture development. In addition, the polyurethane and stainless-steel construction of the cabinet enables faster temperature changes and improved uniformity, ensuring that even temperature-sensitive applications run smoothly. With four powerful blowers and the option for 3D Temperature Mapping, you can be confident that there are no hot or cold spots affecting your cultures, which is vital in process development labs.

“The best incubator on the market for culturing mammalian suspension cells in a humid, carbon dioxide atmosphere.”

- Matthew Higgins, Department of Biochemistry at the University of Oxford, UK

Prevent contamination with hygienic design and UV protection

Contamination is one of the most significant risks in any research lab, leading to wasted time, resources, and compromised results. The Multitron incubator shaker addresses this issue with rounded corners and easy access to all areas, making it simple to clean and maintain sterile conditions. For added protection, optional UV lamps within the airflow path reduce the risk of airborne contaminants, offering peace of mind for scientists working with high-stakes cultures. Additionally, the Multitron’s hygienic humidity control system uses steam to minimize evaporative loss while preventing waterborne contaminants, further safeguarding your samples. These features make the Multitron particularly valuable for labs focused on GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) or process development, where rigorous contamination control is essential.

Service support for optimal performance

Keeping equipment in optimal condition is crucial for reproducibility and long-term research success. INFORS HT offers comprehensive incubator shaker services to ensure that your Multitron shaker continues to perform at its best. From installation and maintenance to emergency repairs, our expert team is here to support your lab every step of the way. The Multitron incubator shaker offers more than just high-performance features—it solves real-world problems that labs face every day. Optimizing HEK293 cell cultures for gene therapy applications: the role of incubator flexibility

Gene therapy is a promising approach for treating various genetic disorders and diseases. A critical component of gene therapy is the production of viral vectors, which serve as delivery vehicles for therapeutic genes. Human Embryonic Kidney 293 (HEK293) cells have become a widely used platform for viral vector production due to their efficiency in transfection and ability to support viral replication. However, optimizing HEK293 cell cultures for large-scale production of viral vectors remains a challenge in making gene therapies more accessible and cost-effective.

Enhancing plasmid DNA (pDNA) production: Innovations in process, manufacturing, and purification techniques

A plasmid DNA production process was performed comparing conventional Erlenmeyer flasks with LB medium and the Thomson’s Ultra Yield® system. E. coli cells were cultivated in both systems in the INFORS HT Multitron incubator shaker, bacterial growth was monitored, and the plasmids were purified at the end of cultivation. Subsequently, the quality of the isolated plasmids was analyzed by HPLC. The combination of the Ultra Yield® flasks with the enriched Plasmid+® medium and the AirOtop® enhanced seal led to higher cell densities and a 21-fold higher amount of plasmid than in Erlenmeyer shake flasks with LB medium.
